James West and Artemus Gordon are two agents of President Grant who take their splendidly appointed private train through the west to fight evil. Half science fiction and half western, Artemus designs a series of interesting gadgets for James that would make Inspector Gadget proud. A lighthearted adventure series. Two Secret Service Agents, equipped with a wide array of gizmos, work for the government in the Old West. I was very young when this show initially aired so it was in repeats that I fell in love with THE WILD WILD WEST.

What hooked me? The first episode I watched, a 1st season episode with Dr. Loveless, where he had drugged James West and made him believe he had murdered Artemus Gordon! I was stunned by this episode - how bizarre yet sensitive it was - and I loved the lead actors, how they had depicted the characters friendship and, oh, that remarkable chemistry! When Artemus had enter West's room, when Jim saw his buddy was alive - the expression of amazement, joy and relief - it just shook me to the core. Wow.

Thank you Robert Conrad and Ross Martin. Thank you to everyone who had anything to do with this series, with us or not.

I'm looking so forward to these episodes coming out on DVD. And a great one it was. Forget the movie version, that was over produced and just plain bad, THIS is the good one. Sort of sci-fi, sort of western, but all cool, this was dealing with spy/counterspy in a way that made us all feel safe at night. Robert Conrad was just great, and Ross Martin steals the show with his unrecognizable disguises. Great fun.
